Catalogue Note
Tabacchi worked at La Brera and then in Rome and quickly took his place amongst the artists of the period. Amongst his works is the monumnet to Garibaldi in Turin and that of Victor-Emmanuel at Asti. Tabacchi had a number of pupils and had considerable influence over the young Italian sculptors of the period. He was made Chevalier d'Honneur in 1878.
