34-cm brass dial, engraved silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals signed Otto van Meurs Amsterdam, foliate pierced hands and engraved alarm disc, subsidiary seconds and apertures for date, day, month and moonphase, four painted elegant ladies below personifying the Seasons, anchor movement with four latched knopped pillars, trip repeating rack Dutch quarter striking on two alternating bells, alarm on the large bell, burr walnut case with bell shaped top lacking Atlas and angels, foliate pierced frets above and below a moulded shaped cornice with a carved ornament, glazed front door with fine inlaid pilasters, canted trunk with later marquetry inlay of flowers and birds, long shaped door with carved ornament and brass basket lenticle, bombed base with similar inlay raised on ball and claw feet, one weight and alarm weights lacking
Condition
dial tarnished and chapter ring needs to be resilvered, painted part with a few chips and scratches, moonphase also with a few chips, minute hand replaced (could be improved), movement able to function but in need of a complete overhaul, around the axis of the first wheel of the going train with centre point dots, suspension of the pendulum altered, pendulum lacking top (steel suspension) and bob, case dirty and in overall distressed condition, fabric behind the frets in bad condition, top structurally loose, top of door with cracks, case pale of colour, marquetry of the late 19th century, parts of the lower backpanel which fill the bombed parts lacking, plinth at the back broken and the backpanel therefore not supporting the trunk, structurally therefore the case not sound, one large weight lacking, alarm weights lacking, atlas and angels lacking, pendulum rod lacking top and bob, together with a winder and doorkey
