Catalogue Note

The makers confirm that the guns were built in 1976.

Ken Hunt is perhaps the best known of all gun engravers.  Apprenticed to Harry Kell from 1950 to 1956, he has worked predominantly for Purdey's and developed a distinctive style that includes the use of gold to highlight his deeply carved scenes. He was the first gun engraver to become well known in his own right, and his work is directly responsible for interest and demand in highly decorated and engraved guns.  He elevated gun engraving to an art form.
