Condition
The gentleman's ring is in fair condition with considerable wear to the gold mounting; the shank is slightly out of round. Prong-set with a round-cut diamond, approx I-J color, VS2-SI1. The shoulders are enhanced with double-headed eagles as well as other motifs, the latter being too heavily rubbed to be discernable. The double-headed eagle has been a frequently used emblematic device throughout history from the Byzantine Empire to modern Montenegro. It can also be found in Masonic imagery, as may be the case with the present lot, and is said to represent the union of the feminine and masculine within the individual.
