Description

  • length 14 3/4 ins.
12 emerald-cut emeralds and 12 pearls approx 10.65 cts & 9.2 x 6.3 to 5.7 x 4.7 mm, with silver tiara fitting,

Condition

Designed as a series of garlands and bows, the necklace is in good condition with typical surface wear and discoloration to the silver-topped gold mounting. The 12 emerald-cut emeralds bear typical eye-visible incusions and range from a medium "watery" slightly bluish green to a medium-deep very slightly bluish green. Further set with small round-cut emeralds ranging from light to medium-deep green. The settings for all the emeralds are tipped in gold with the emerald-cuts mounted in beaded collet-settings, the round-cuts in a combination of beaded and crimped collet-settings. The necklace is enhanced throughout with small, near colorless to gray rose-cut diamonds set into closed backings. Completed by 12 white baroque pearls presenting a waxy to satin-like luster and typical irregulaties. The pearls have not been tested for natural origin; a patch to one of the drop-shaped pearls appears to be devoid of nacre. The clasp is set with an emerald and diamond cluster and is fitted with a safety closure. The necklace has been further enhanced on the reverse by light engraving. The front half of the necklace detaches for wear on the accompanying tiara fitting; adjustments to the fitting are required.
