Description
The brooch designed as a donkey carrying a basket embellished with circular-cut rubies, emeralds and sapphires, as well as brilliant-cut diamonds; accompanied by a pair of ear clips, each centring on a mabé pearl within radiating surrounds accented with lines of brilliant-cut stones.
Condition
Brooch: Stamped with French assay marks for 18 carat gold. Diamonds bright and lively, the remaining stones well matched in colour, one sapphire and one ruby near to the neck with surface reaching inclusions and a chip, visible only with magnification. Pin bent at end, safety catch, stiff to open. Weight approximately 20.5 grams. Ear clips: Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 0.40- 0.50 carats, bright, lively stones. Mabé pearls well matched in size, one slightly deeper than the other, medium to high lustre, strong rosé overtones, one with a slightly textured skin, the other with very small pits. Strong clip fittings. Both jewels in very good condition.
