Description
Inset to the centre with an oval onyx cameo carved to depict the dextral profile of a maiden in Renaissance dress, within an open work scroll frame of blue and white enamel, embellished with circular-cut diamonds, suspending three pearl drops, to a glazed locket reverse.

Condition
The central hardstone cameo in excellent condition, scratched to the reverse with 'GBissinge' and the enamelled beadwork surround in very good condition. Some minor enamel loss to the scroll motifs with the metal showing through in places, some later restoration to enamel. Diamonds bright and lively. Pearls measuring approximately 7.4mm x 5.6, 8.3mm x 6.2mm and 7.0mm x 6.4mm respectively. Pinkish brown tint with slight rosé overtones, medium lustre, banded colour and growth patterns, well matched in colour overall, all different sizes, one oval, one off-round and the central pearl drop shaped. Some evidence of alterations and solder to the upper section on the reverse, not visible when worn. Bottom foliate motif section a little loose. Slight traces of solder fixing the later brooch pin to reverse, very slightly bent. Hinged safety catch beneath pin. In very good condition.
