SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND PENDANT/BROOCH, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

The swing centre set with a rectangular cut-cornered sapphire, within a border of millegrain-set single- and circular-cut diamonds, to a frame of entwined link design and a ribbon bow surmount, similarly-set with rose-, circular- and single-cut diamonds, on a later curb link chain, length approximately 410mm, later brooch pin and suspension loop fitting.

Estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.5 carats, bright stones. Sapphire a medium violetish blue with moderate saturation of colour, measuring approximately 13.3mm x 10.5mm x 6.75mm, estimated to weigh approximately 10.18 carats, silk inclusions visible with magnification, several inclusions visible to the naked eye, two surface reaching inclusions and a small concave cavity to reverse, not visible when worn. As mentioned in the cataloguing the brooch pin and suspension loop fitting are both later, original thread still visible in the centre to reverse where a detachable brooch fitting might have been, pin a little bent. Small gold solder repair to pendant loop above sapphire, not visible when worn. In very good condition.
