PAIR OF GEM-SET, ENAMEL AND DIAMOND BROOCHES, HENNELL

Each designed as a pair of parrots perched on a black enamel branch, the bodies pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds, the tails and wings set with lines of millegrain channel-set calibré-cut sapphires and rubies, embellished with cabochon ruby eyes and black enamel beaks, one signed Hennell, maker's marks and British import marks for London, 1990, case by Hennell, 12 New Bond Street, London, W1Y 0HE.

Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold to each gallery edge. Please note both brooches are signed Hennell; the brooch with the ruby tails signed along the left hand side gallery near the tail of the left hand parrot and the brooch with the sapphire tails to the underside edge of the right hand parrot. Estimated total diamond weight in each brooch approximately 0.65 - 0.85 carats, bright, lively stones. Sapphires a strong blue with typical inclusions visible with a 10x lens, rubies a medium slightly pinkish red with typical inclusions visible with magnification, coloured stones well matched throughout; two small rubies to wing of brooch with sapphire tail with surface reaching inclusions visible only with magnification. The enamel is in very good condition. A well matched pair of brooches. In excellent condition.
