Description
The open work pendant centring on an oval cabochon opal within surrounds accented with circular-cut diamonds, to a chain of fancy linking, chain early 20th Century, length approximately 620mm.
Condition
Brooch mounted in silver and gold, stamped 9K for 9 carat gold to the clasp of chain. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 2.0 - 3.0 carats, mixed colours and clarities. Opal measuring approximately 12.0mm x 8.0mm x 5.7mm, estimated to weigh approximately 3.18 carats. The opal is displaying the typical play-of-colour with mostly greens and blues, some yellow and red, a noticeable crack to the right hand side of the stone is surface reaching, some small scratches and pits to the surface visible only with magnification. Removable pendant fitting with hinged pendant loop. Original detachable pin fitting to reverse deficient. Some tarnish and light scratching consistent with age and wear visible to reverse. In very good condition.
