Description

Centring on a step-cut aquamarine within an open work frame embellished with engraved gold scroll work and four oval rubies, collapsible suspension loop.

Condition

Aquamarine measuring approximately 25.0mm x 23.15mm x 17.4mm, estimated to weigh approximately 71.0 carats. A light very slightly greenish blue hue with medium colour saturation, with small nicks and chips to facet edges and light scratches visible with magnification. Rubies are well matched in size and colour, a pinkish red, medium colour saturation, with typical inclusions visible with a 10x lens. Very lightweight piece as it is hollow, total weight approximately 29.4 grams. Old additional pendant hook fitting opposite original hinged loop fitting, evidence of repair with lead solder to pin end of the clasp, rotating safety catch. Pin a little loose when open. In very good condition.
