Description

Comprising; a necklace composed of graduated oval aquamarines within surrounds of foliate and scroll design and further applied with bead and burr detail, accompanied by a pair of pendent earrings, a brooch, a pendant (converted from a brooch) a stick pin and a hair ornament (later), all respectively set with aquamarines of various shapes and cuts, necklace length approximately 400mm, French assay marks.

Condition

Necklace: Principal stone measuring approximately 19.1mm x 15.5mm x 7.5mm, estimated to weigh approximately 12.68 carats, a weak bluish green, with typical inclusions visible to the naked eye. Stones varying in size throughout necklace various colours, aquamarines throughout parure with low saturation of colour from pale blue to bluish green, typical inclusions visible with a 10x lens and the naked eye. Well articulated, some tarnish to reverse not visible when worn. Some solder and an old repair to one small decorative link, only slightly visible from the front. Clasp secure very close to link near to it, does not sit flat when closed, clasp to right hand side of centre, possibly an indication that the necklace may have been shortened at some point. Earrings: Very light, well articulated, pendant drops detachable. Some small dents to répoussé gold work. Unusual pinch hinged fittings. Brooch: Later pin fitting, traces of solder to reverse where pin was affixed. Some small indentations to outside. Two loops to gallery edge of brooch. Later pin. Pendant: Brooch fitting deficient, some small repairs to reverse, detachable drops. Stick pin: probably made up from a removed link from the necklace. Hinged pin, traces of solder to reverse where pin was affixed. Hair ornament: Some small indentations and scratches to gold work, slightly tarnished. One small repair to an aquamarine mounted to the right hand side visible from the front. Parure overall in very good condition.
