Description
Designed as four graduated rows of cultured pearls applied to a clasp designed as a butterfly, set throughout with circular-cut diamonds, sapphires, rubies and seed pearls, length approximately 450mm, clasp late 19th Century.
Condition
Estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.0 - 1.2 carats, bright, lively stones. Central sapphire a vivid blue hue, with moderately strong colour saturation, the other sapphires all weaker in saturation, with typical inclusions visible with a 10x lens. Rubies a dark, slightly brownish red hue throughout, well matched, with typical inclusions visible with magnification. Cultured pearls well matched in size, different tones, cream and grey, low to medium lustre. Clasp originally would have had a detachable brooch fitting now deficient. Cultured pearls gently graduated in size in each strand, majority round in shape some off-round, many with rosé overtones, medium lustre on average, several with typical cultivation marks and blemishes. In very good condition.
