A large overmantel mirror Victorian, mid-19th century

gilt-gesso frame, Rococo style and with pierced floral vase surmont

Impressive and very decorative. So often with mirrors of this size there are many losses and gesso cracks - this mirror is unusual because it is in remarkably good condition and does not have any of the damage that one would expect which is very good. It appears to be relatively untouched although there are possibly some small localised areas of re-touched gilding. The plate could well be later but this does not detract. Minor frame cracks and some small gesso - all very typical. Very decorative.
