brass inlaid tortoiseshell and ebony veneers, with a black marble top and gilt-metal mounts, the interior with a single shelf
Condition
This is visually impressive. On close inspection one realises the piece could do with workshop attention. The marble top is good but there are some rim chips. The piece is of a wobbly stance and would benefit from 'tightening up'. The right door needs re-mounting properly. The gilt-metal mounts are in good order, but again, some could do with re-attaching i.e along the side of one door. The tortoiseshell is discoloured in places. The brass inlay is good (although there is some lifting on one door in a localised area). There interior has a hole drilled in the reverse and the central shelf appears to be later. There are chips to the ebony veneers and notably one chip to the base.
