Description
- blue interaced L's mark enclosing date letter ff, painter's mark k for Dodin, gilder's mark for Le Guay, incised 36 to cup and 37 to saucer
the cup finely decorated by Charles-Nicolas Dodin with a scene of children playing instuments, the two boys playing cello and violin, dressed in revival costumes accompanying a girl playing the harpsicord, the saucer decorated with a similar terrace scene of a young painter behind his canvas looking at his young model, his pupil sitting on a pillow by his side, a large column just visible behing heavy green velvet drapery, the bleu nouveau ground decorated with finely tooled elaborate gilt festoons and strapwork alternated by classical vases
Condition
The saucer with very minor wear to gilding. Otherwise in very good condition.

The scenes are taken from two of the overdoors painted by Carle Vanloo for Madame de Pompadour's Salon de Compagnie at the Château de Bellevue and engraved by Fessard (see figs.1 and 2).
