Description

  • 235cm. high, 150cm. wide, 235cm. long; 7ft 8½in., 4ft 11in., 7ft 8½in.
the headboard with arched panels, foliate inlay, and with acanthus terminals centred by a caryatid, the tester with segmented panels, inlay and four turned bosses, the side friezes centred by lion masks, the end frieze with caryatid and strapwork panel, the bed end with twin turned ornate posts on square pedestals, the bed rails with apertures, comprising some 16th century and later elements

Condition

Good throughout. Darkish colour. Colour variation between the turned posts and the square sections beneath. Slight losses to inlay on the two bedhead panels. One turned pillar with old partial splits and an old cut in the turning near the surmount. Both of the pillars with some abrasions and old fragmenting.
