Catalogue Note

Cabinets on chests of comparable overall design are illustrated, T. Sylvén, Mästarnas Möbler, Stockholmsarbeten 1700-1850, Stockholm, 1996.
Drawings by Israel Millmans, dated 21st October 1757 and illustrated op. cit. p. 268-269 are very similar to the present piece.  Other similar examples were produced by Martin Neijber, dated 1761 and illustrated op. cit. p. 278, as well as by Andreas Fogel, dated 1762, op. cit. p.126.  Other similar recorded examples would suggest that this was a desirable model in the second half of the 18th century.
