partly gilt and originally partly silvered, His body being lowered into the tomb while surrounded by women in agony accompanied by bearded men, Saint John the Evangelist forming the centre of the composition, within a frame of later date
Catalogue Note
Originally the entire surface was silvered, thus giving the impression of a silver relief. The composition derives from North Italian antecedents, the robes however retain the Gothic style North of the Alps.
