11.5-cm engine turned silvered dial with Roman numerals and Breguet hands, countwheel bell striking anchor movement with silk suspended pendulum marked Pons med. d'argent 1823, arched Siena marble case with an ormolu classical mount, flanked by the patinated bronze group of Psyche crowning Amor, rectangular marble base with a foliate ormolu mount, patinated bronze plinth with acanthus relief raised on claw feet
Catalogue Note
This bronze group was modelled after a design of Claude Michallon. After the death of this sculptor in 1799, several of his models were cast in bronze at the beginning of the 19th century. Lit. Ottomeyer und Pröschel pp. 350.
