Description

  • JLL monogram in white enamel, the lock to the casket 'Bramah/ London', painted museum inventory numbers
  • the tray 32.3cm. by 25cm., 12 5/8 in. by 9¾in.
from the 'Bunt Rococo' series, designed by Heinrich Bergmann, each faceted piece painted with gallants and female companions within elaborate floral scroll borders and gilt bands, comprising a shaped rectangular tray, two decanters and stoppers and twelve liqueur glasses, all within a fitted leather-bound deep rectangular front-opening casket with allover tooled gilt scroll and foliate motifs

Restituted from the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin to the heirs of Helmuth Meißner in 2007

Condition

The tray has an 1/8 inch shallow chip to the exterior edge of the rim. One glass has a pinhead chip to the edge of the foot. One decanter stopper has a 1/4 inch bruise/chip to the widest part. It is possible that the ball knops and the faceted widest part of both decanter stoppers have been slightly ground or re-shaped.
