Description
- 94cm., 37in. high
the fountain modelled in the centre with the mask of Neptune above a moulded shell, his open mouth forming the spout, the cistern with scale and shell moulding flanked by dolphins
Condition
Fountain - section of leaf to right hand side lacking approximately 70 x 15 mm visible in photograph. Moulding around spout worn flat below spout both scroll terminals above spout with chips 5mm, 7mm. Large chip at base of central shell moulding 35mm x 25mm two large chips to moulding along base, one 25 x 5 mm, one 10 x 10 mm. Some crazing to glaze. Extensive losses to moulded framework on reverse.
Cistern - three hairline cracks to inside of cistern 100mm, 95mm and 50mm, also extensive crazing. Lefthand dolphin has 10 x 5 mm chip to top of snout, right hand has a 7 x 5 mm flat chip under top lip, both have hairline cracks across forehead. Two chips to left hand base scroll each 5 x 3mm and tiny chip to right hand flute of shell base. Extensive losses to moulded framework to reverse.
Both with some plaster and paint attached.
