Description

  • Darte 'Palais Royal' No 21. stencilled in iron-red  
  • 15.6cm., 6 1/8 in.
each painted with a panel of naturalistic flowers at the front, the reverse and sides with alternating blue and gilt panels painted with foliate scrolls, gilt mask handles, on four gilt paw-feet above a gilt square base, the cover with a central chimney encircled by six pierced circular wholes, the gilt rim with apertures on the inner edge for the cover

Condition

One vase has a chip to the rim, approx. 1/4in. by 1/8in. at deepest point. Minor wear to gilding on extremities. The other vase has two haircracks running from opposite sides of the rim, approx. 4in. and 3in. Very minor wear to gilding. Covers- one has glued slice chip to inner flange around one lug approx. 1in. by ¼in. at deepest point.
