Description

  • crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed .9 (the ecuelle) and 20 (the stand)
  • the stand: 22cm., 8 5/8 in.
each encrusted with a dense ground of flowers and occasional leaves, the stand painted with a gilt trellis and scrollwork quatrelobe cartouche enclosing a scene of elegant figures in a landscape, enclosed by four smaller scenes alternating with Holzschnittblumen, the interior of the ecuelle gilt, the cover interior with a circular scene in purple camaieu of soldiers on horseback within a band of gilt scrollwork reserved against the burnished gilt ground, the handles and finial as leafy branches secured by gilt bows, the latter surmounted by a bird

Condition

Tureen- one handle has been broken off and glued. some typical small chips to the flowers and chip to the end of one leaf. Cover- overall in very good condition with some minor typical chips to flowers. Stand- overall in good condition. Some light surface scratches to centre.
