Description

  • numeral 91 to the reverse painted in red
  • 24.5cm., 9¾in.
the centre painted with the coat of arms of the Weselau of Osnabruck, the border with a continuous berried laurel wreath and three clusters of yellow fruits, all reserved on a light blue ground, the reverse with blue geometric patterns and lines

Condition

Generally in good condition, there are three stilt marks to the central roundel, two are clearly visible in the photograph to the left and below the arms, the third is at 2 o'clock relative to the arms. The edge of the well has lost all its glaze through wear and again is visible from the photograph, there are two areas where the glaze has crept from this inner rim, an area 22 x 5 mm just to the left of the top blue tree trunk and 25 x 5 mm at the opposite side, these unglazed areas have been painted pale blue. The rim has typical minor rim flakes which are visible in the photograph, also bottom left which appears as two white lines in the photograph is a filled and painted rim chip 15x5mm. There is a light crackle to the glaze to most of the front border. The reverse has crackle to the glaze throughout and typical minor glass flakes, also the glaze has crept from the rim 15x5mm at rim, again painted in pale blue.
