3¼-inch silvered dial signed Arnold & Dent, Strand, London No.689 with subsidiary dials for seconds and up/down, the fusee and chain movement with maintaining power and Earnshaw's detent escapement with free-sprung helical spring and compensation balance, mounted in a brass bowl gimbal fitted to a three tier mahogany box with brass handles and inset with an ivory plaque engraved 689, the interior of the lid with a label for Edward Dent inscribed Cleaned May 1858
