Description

  • 27cm. 10½in. high
3½-inch enamel dial, pierced and engraved gilt hands and beaded bezel, the fusee movement signed Vulliamy, London No.382 with ring-turned tapered pillars, half-deadbeat escapement with original numbered pendulum and rise and fall regulation, the fluted drum case surmounted by an ormolu shallow urn and raised on anthemion carved corbels resting on a fluted plinth inset on the front and sides with mauve and white circular Wedgwood jaspar panels depicting Classical figures within gilt beaded frames; dial restored

Provenance

The Vulliamy records show that this clock was bought by the Duke of Gloucester in 1802. William Henry Duke of Gloucester, the brother of King George III was born in November 1743 and died in August 1805. He was buried in St.George's Chapel, Windsor
