Description

inlaid with hardstones and ivory, the central section showing a lively hunting scene, between an upper register of the 'Hundred Antiques' and a lower register of fantastic beasts, all against a dark brown lacquered ground, the other side with floral sprays

Condition

There has been loss to the inlay, including the central mountain/rocks, the teapot on the second from right panel, and 13 figures with minor or major loss. Some of the lacquer background has cracked or is missing, especially near the hinges. The top hinge second from left and the central hinges requires tightening. There are chips around the edges.
