Description

the flat rounded seat set upon four straight legs carved at the top with foliate panels gently curving to rounded feet, with shaped sloping arms and a vase-shaped backsplat, ornately carved overall with phoenix birds whirling in flight amongst luxuriant flowering peony, lotus and plum blossom sprays

Condition

There are chips to the legs, one to the top of the front leg and adjoining apron, one to the back leg. Cracks to the lacquer of varying sizes throughout, the most significant on the seat 14 inches long and visible on the underside, another at the bottom of the splat. A 4 1/2 inch section of the right side of the backrest (when facing chair) broken and restuck, still a little weak.
