A Chinese-Export Painted Paper Screen Qing Dynasty, Kangxi Period

Estimate
7,000 - 9,000 USD
bidding is closed

Description

painted in four sections with vibrant colors, depicting a lake scene with figures in leisurely pursuits, including a man leading a horse across the lake, women in a covered sampan, the background with pavilions, all above a 'marbleized' black band

Condition

The screen is in good overall condition with slight tears and rips to the paper, especially the area at the 'hinges', which are made of canvas. There is some loss to the paint at the borders and a chip to the bottom 1/2 inch wide. The colors remain consistent through the panels, and there is no obvious repainting.
