bidding is closed

Description

of cylindrical form with a flaring mouth and foot, the bulging middle section painted with a soaring blue dragon with lingzhi fungus, set between two similar landscape scenes of scrolling clouds, mountains, pavilions and rafts on a meandering river, the base with an apocryphal Xuande mark

Condition

The vase is Kangxi period with an apocryphal Xuande mark in underglaze blue to the base. It is not mark and period of Kangxi as is described in the catalogue. There is a pinhole at the exterior rim, and several tiny pinpricks to the interior side of the rim. The exterior area underneath the rim has visible traces of an old restoration, with the white of the repainted glaze now discolored. The vase is in otherwise good condition. The color of the blue and red is slightly deeper in the catalogue image.
