Description
of conical form resting on a small buff-colored foot, the interior decorated with three medallions enclosing four-character phrases reserved in dark brown on the lustrous amber speckled ground, the exterior dressed with irregular splashes
Condition
There are six pinholes to the interior, all tiny but one approximately 1/4 inch long. The exterior has tiny pinholes and pinpricks. There are minor glaze flakes to the bottom of the exterior glaze, one small kiln fault, and a small chip 1/2 inch wide. This bowl is in otherwise good condition overall.

The three medallions are emblazoned with auspicious four-character phrases which read and translate as follows:
Fu shou kang ning (wealth, longevity, health and peace)
Jin yu man tang (may gold and jade fill your hall)
A 'Jizhou' bowl of this paper-cut design is illustrated in Jiang Xuanyi, Jizhou: Jianzhi enyang tieyin di ciqi, Beijing, 1958, pl. 18; and one is included in Zhongguo taoci quanji, vol. 15, Kyoto, 1986, pl. 22.
