Description

the domed circular cover rising to a flat central panel, intricately carved with scholars and attendants on an inlet landscape, comprising pavilions, rocks, trees, and a meandering river with a cross-bridge, all enclosed by a keyfret border, the sides of the box and cover each with four cartouches enclosing a scholar and attendants, reserved on a ground of floral heads surrounded by dense foliate scrolls within ruyi lappet borders, the straight foot encircled by a further keyfret band, the interior and base lacquered black (2)

Condition

There has been repainting along the rims, which also exhibits at 1/2 inch chip on the box. The interior has been relacquered with small chips and cracks. The footring also with chips. In good condition.
