of flattened oval section rising from a lobed foot, the body carved in low-relief and separated into two major registers, the lower section with downturned blades enclosing a monster-mask with a bulbous nose, the upper section depicting another monster-mask accentuated with stylized eyebrows surrounded by archaistic gui dragons, between a band of ruyi-heads at the collar and delicate upright lappets to the base, the sides flanked by abstracted qilong below loop handles in the form of horned beasts, each with loose rings, the cover surmounted by a ferocious lion, the stone attractively shaded from lavender to emerald green (4)

The pair is in overall good condition. There is roughness around one of the lion's mouths on the cover, but otherwise the vases do not have chips or nicks. The color of the catalogue image is consistent with the vases.
