Description

plainly decorated save for a single raised rib encircling the compressed globular body, flanked by upright curved handles securing two long angular prongs to support the low domed cover, set on the interior with a pricket stick for use as a lamp stand and two small duck-heads with arched necks on the exterior forming locking clasps, all above three cabriole legs, covered with malachite encrustation (2)

Provenance

Acquired by the present owner in the early 1990s; prior to that, on the Japanese art market in the early 1980s.

Condition

UV light showed that the vessel is structurally in very good condition. There are no breaks. The malachite encrustation is powdery green.
