Description

the white body with overall gilt-wire detailing, standing foursquare with head held low and turned to its left, draped with a tasseled yellow-ground undercloth, set beneath a blanket richly decorated with beribboned chimes suspended above waves and jagged rockwork on a turquoise ground, surmounted by a small globular vase resting upon the howdah, all above studded multi-colored trappings fitted over the head and body, the rectangular stand with wooden base, painted to the sloping sides with a dense floral scroll, set with gilt-metal dragon and floral panels, 19th century (2)

Condition

The base is not painted; it is cloisonne The overall condition is very good. The saddle blanket is reinforced with solder on the underside. There are a few minor chips to the stand with minor areas filled with wax.
