A PAIR OF 'FAMILLE-ROSE' BLUE GROUND VASES SEAL MARKS OF DAOGUANG

Estimate
8,000 - 12,000 GBP
bidding is closed

Description

each body of globular form rising from a recessed base to a tall waisted neck with garlic-head mouth, painted around the exterior with butterflies hovering over blossoming flowers, all reserved on a pale blue ground, the base and interior glazed white

Condition

The vases are in very good overall condition with the exception of minor glaze scratches and rubbing predominantly around the mouth rim, a small glaze-pull to the lower body of one and some iron-spot glaze firing imperfections to the body of the other. It should be noted the ground colour is of a stronger lavender-blue tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
