Catalogue Note
The present vessel is unusual for the design of the shou characters on a geometric diaper ground. See a Daoguang period famille-rose flowerpot painted with flowers on a related geometrical design ground possibly inspired by contemporary textile motifs illustrated in The Official Kiln Porcelain of the Chinese Qing Dynasty, Shanghai, 2003, pl. 401.
