Description

each body of pear shape supported on a short spreading foot and rising to a tall flaring neck, applied to one side with an elegant S-shaped spout joined to the body with a cloud strut, and to the other with a tall loop handle, painted in rich cobalt-blue tones around the body with a broad band of undulating leafy lotus scroll between lotus-lappet and ruyi bands, the neck with peony, wave and stiff leaf bands, the rim and foot with key-fret bands

Condition

One ewer has a crack and break to the upper part of the handle where it joins the neck and a three-pointed star crack where the handle joins the body. Very minor fritting to the rim of the spout. Fritting on the rim of the spout of the second ewer. Both ewers have scattered pin-head iron spot impurities to glaze and very light overall surface scratching and rubbing. The colour of both ewers is of a more vibrant tone than the illustration suggests.
