Catalogue Note

It is rare to find blue-and-white brushpots of this broad cylindrical form with a Kangxi reign mark, although a brushpot of this type painted with figures, also with a Kangxi six-character reign mark and of the period, is illustrated in Qing Shunzhi Kangxi chao qinghua ci, vol. 1, Beijing, 2005, pl. 208. See another Kangxi mark and period brushpot of related shape decorated with landscape, from the Robert Chang collection, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 1st October 1991, lot 930.
