Description
of inverted fluted baluster form, painted with fish and crustaceans amongst aquatic fronds, set with a gilt-bronze dolphin-shaped spigot, the fluted basin similarly decorated
Condition
Cover:
typical minor shallow fritting to knop, edges and rims, covering approx. 70% of edges.
Cistern:
very minor friting to glaze around the dolphin backplate, the largest area approx 2cm.
Front edge of the rim, slightly bruised with associated fracture, approximately 3cm.
Very minor flaking to yellow enamel around the spiggot to lion mask.
Basin:
flaking to black enamel to the central crab (see additional photograph provided) several lotus leaves also with flaking to enamels.
Two repaired chips to rim at approximately 5 and 7 o'clock, now filled with plaster. One with associated haircrack, 10cm. Other small areas of enamel loss around the border.
