Description

the body of baluster form rising from a short waisted foot to a short waisted neck, painted around the exterior in rich cobalt-blue tones with four large lotus-shaped panels enclosing flowers and divided by strapwork, all above a lotus-lappet band at the base, the shoulder with a band of flower-filled panels reserved on a key-fret diaper ground and divided by four animal mask lug handles

Condition

Fritting to approx. ΒΌ of the rim. Scattered iron spots, air bubbles and minor firing imperfections. A number of scratches overall. A 3-pronged star crack to the sides of the body, approx. 22.5 cm., visible to both the interior and exterior. 2 nearby glaze cracks to the exterior, both approx. 1.5 cm. Otherwise generally in good condition.
