Description

the robustely potted body and broad shoulders rising from a waisted foot to a short narrow rim, painted around the exterior with a band of peonies above a lotus lappet band at the base, the shoulder with large lotus flower sprays

Condition

The vase is in good condition with the exception of a possible repaired firing crack (2.5cm.) to the neck, extending into a four-pointed hairline body crack (ca. 35cm) running around the shoulder; a 2mm. diam burst glaze bubble; minor glaze firing imperfections and glaze scratches around the exterior. It should be noted that the glaze is of a slightly warmer tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest. Lightly drilled collectors mark to base.
