Description

seated and holding a small lion with a funnel-shaped object in his mouth, splashed with rich lead glazes in deep green, amber-brown and straw.  5.2cm., 2 in.; together with a green-glazed circular box and cover with moulded design

Condition

Miniature sancai figure: The glaze on the tip of the rim of the funnel-shaped object is slightly rubbed off (ca. 0.3cm). The glaze on the lion's right leg and the figures left shoe and garment folds is rubbed off. Tiny triangular hole next to the figure's right cheek (as visible in the catalogue illustration). Overall good condition. Green-glazed box and cover: Several small chips to the rim of the cover. Glaze on the cover slightly dull. Part of the box (ca. 7cm) broken off and restored.
