Description
shaped as a scallop shell, with a hinged gilt-metal mount, finely chased with a shell-shaped thumbpiece to the rim, the interior painted with a spray of fruit and flowers, the exterior with a further arrangement of flowers to the cover, velvet covered stand
Condition
The snuff box is in good overall condition with the exception of a three-pointed star scratch near the rim of the cover; very light rubbing to the enamels on the base and cover; and very minor loss to the enamels and in particular the black enamel outline inside the gilt mount (it should be noted there is a white enamel band around the outer edge of the pink and black enamel before the gilt mount). It should be noted that the enamels are slightly more defined and brighter in tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
