Description

of cylindrical form, finely carved in high-relief with a dense design of figures engaged in various activities of daily life, on a fitted ivory stand with openwork floral design 

Condition

The foot rim with three small drilled holes and several fine hairlines. The carving of the brushpot of overall good condition with the exception to one piece of a pine tree in the upper section where a small part has broken off and is missing. Large part (ca. 17cm) and a smaller part (ca. 4cm) of the rim of the separate stand broken off and missing. Hole in the centre of the stand, crack running through the base of the stand. Minor bits of the openwork design of the footring of the stand broken off and missing.
