Description

of slightly squared section, the interior hollowed with a sharp step before the flared rim, one end shaped to form a broad flattened spout flanked by two upright indented folds in the rim and with a split handle set opposite below the confronting heads of two sinuous qilong, the body with band of large taotie masks and seven further qilong clambering around the exterior, the horn of a rich toffee tone

Condition

The base with a natural, filled in flaw/chip (ca. 5cm) running across the base and with an associated chip (ca. 1cm) to each side of the base. Another old chip (ca. 1cm) on the rim of the base. On the qilong near the spout part of the tail (ca. 2cm) is broken off (visible in the illustration). A small chip to the tail of another qilong on the rim (visible in the illustration). Old, filled-in chip (ca. 1x1.5cm) to the spout on the other side. Part of one qilong (ca. 2cm) clambering onto the rim broken out and missing. Two chips (ca. 1.2cm) to the tail on another qilong and old area of restoration (ca. 1x1 cm). Pease note that the length of the cup is 20cm or 7 3/4 in.
