Description

the ruyi-shaped terminal finely carved in low relief with an elephant, its head inclined to one side and caparisonned with a saddle cloth draped over its back supporting a vase filled with flowers, surrounded by four beribboned auspicious bajixiang emblems, the arched shaft carved in low relief with the yin-yang symbol and four further ribbon-tied emblems completing the bajixiang, rising from rolling waves at the pointed tip, the end pierced for threading a tassel, the stone of an even pale celadon tone

Condition

The piece is overall in very good condition, with the exception of some nibbles to the edges of the ruyi terminal. There is a darker inclusion which runs across the front and back of the shaft, (on the upper part of the shaft). The stone is of a pure and even translucent tone.
