Description

based on archaic bronze form, the translucent white stone carved in low relief with four interlinked archaic taotie animal masks around the bulging middle section, each mask separated by a detached 'eye' motif, all reserved on a plain ground, set between upright cicada blades collaring the neck and trumpet mouth and pendant plaintain leaves and skirting the splayed foot, the neck further carved with four bat loop handles securing loose rings, stand

Condition

The vase is generally in good condition overall. There are small expected nibbles to the handles and footrim. There are some scratches to the interior, and natural fissures to the stone. The carving is finer than the illustration suggests.
