Catalogue Note

It is rare to find celadon washers of this form and decoration although a closely related slightly larger vessel, decorated with similar applied studs but with the additional moulded decoration of the Eight Daoist Trigrams around the low bulging body, was sold in our New York rooms, 19th September 2001, lot 178.  The form of this vessel is based on drums during the Qianlong period.
